This crochet penguin is a really fun thing to make. It is a a bit of a bigger project, and I definitely didn't do it all in one sitting, but I found that it turned out so well.
I used a chunky grey yarn and a 6mm hook for the body and wings, and an acrylic yarn and a 4mm hook for the beak. I did have to sew the wings and beak onto the body, but it wasn't difficult. You can use a large crochet sewing needle for this. I stuffed the body with plush stuffing.

As you may notice, I extended the body a little bit, but it didn't affect the rest of the penguin.
I wouldn't recommend this as a beginner project, but once you get a hang of making these kind of crochet plushies, I would definitely try making this.
