Staying Hydrated

Staying Hydrated

Wellbeing & Self Care

Water is probably the most important thing your body needs, and staying hydrated throughout the day is the best thing you can do to your body. Water is vital to our health, and it can fix the worst of problems.

The average person should be drinking about 3 litres of water per day which is equivalent to about 13 cups or 1 gallon of water per day. Drinking water can cure kidney infection, constipation, headaches, acne, and more. It can also help with weight loss.

Dehydration is quite common, whether it is a serious condition or just a general lack of water. The symptoms and disadvantages of dehydration could be:

  • dizzeness
  • headache
  • less energy
  • tiredness
  • dry mouth
  • low blood pressure

Simply drinking enough water a day could help with all these symptoms, and much more.

Here are some tips to get you drinking more water:

  1. Have a nice water bottle
Having a fun or aesthetic bottle you enjoy drinking from can motivate you to drink water, and will amuse you when you drink.
  2. Associate a sip of water with another activity
If there is something that you do very often, like check your watch or hum your favourite song, use that as a cue to have a sip of water.
  3. Set reminders
If you know that you are a very forgetful person, or you are too focused on one thing to think about something else, set small reminder, like a notification on your phone, or a note on your wall.
  4. Customise your water
Similar to the first tip, customising your water can also motivate you to drink. You can add a slice of lemon or some blueberries, anything you will enjoy drinking.

Drinks to avoid:

  • Energy drinks
  • Soda
  • Coffee
  • Alcoholic drinks

These drinks are all diuretics, meaning they pull water from your body which will only dehydrate you more.

I hope this helped, thank you for reading, have a nice day🫶, bye!
