I'm sure you have heard or read about this before, but sleep is absolutely VITAL. Sleep affects your health, your emotions, your concentration, your skin, and much more. People don't realise that sleep is actually a lot more important than you think, and it's not just something that you can dismiss or catch up on later.
How much sleep should you be getting?
Younger and older children (6-12 yrs) need about 9-11 hrs of sleep per night, teenagers and young adults (13-19 yrs) need about 8-10 hrs of sleep per night, and adults need about 7-9 hrs of sleep per night. Of course, the amount of sleep needed varies for everyone, but you should be getting something close to your recommended hours.
It is very common for people to be getting less sleep than they should be, especially if they have school or work early in the morning, but this also depends on what time you go to bed and the quality of sleep you get. Once again, this all depends on you and your habits.
How does your sleep cycle affect your sleep?
Your sleep cycle is a very important factor of whether or not you are getting enough quality sleep. For example, if you have been going to bed at 1am for the past week, and you now decide to sleep at 10, that's probably not going to happen. Why? Because your sleep cycle is set to fall asleep at 1am or later.
Your sleep cycle also affects what time you wake up in the morning, so if you struggle to wake up at 8 am one day, it might be because you have been lying in until 10 am the past few days.
If you want a regular sleep cycle and good sleep, start going to bed around the same time every night, preferably around around 10 o'clock, and set an alarm at the same time every morning.
Conclusion
Sleep is very important, but there are ways that you can fall asleep easier, and get better quality sleep. I will be giving tips to get the best sleep in another post, so make sure to check that out, and I will be looking more about how sleep affects your skin in other posts, so look out for that.
For now though, have a nice day🫶, bye!
